Our Lady of Guadalupe Legend Card reads...
In 1531, the Virgin Mary appeared to an Aztec Indian named Juan Diego during one of his trips up Tepayac Hill. She requested that a church be built on that site and told Juan to deliver the message to the Bishop.

The skeptical Bishop asked Juan to provide a sign from the Blessed Virgin. Upon his return, the Virgin made a rose bush appear on a barren hill in the middle of December. Juan gathered the miraculous blossoms in his tilma and rushed back to give proof of the apparition.

Again before the Bishop, he opened his cloak to let the flowers spill out before him. But even more miraculous than the roses was the perfect image of the Virgin of Guadalupe emblazoned on his cloak.
